An anchor of strength and hope over the last three decades during polarising times of loss, life, grief and personal expression- whilst holding a deep respect for the art of where it all began. She believes that only when we return to the root of a practice do we understand its limitless foundational importance. This disciplined and slow approach is key, and perhaps the secret, to Addies work. Having an unwavering foundational practice brings Addie home, it grounds her to her own roots. The joy of waiting for an image to develop under the red light, the anticipation of a roll film being returned via post. These quintessential aspects of photography are often lost in today’s fast paced society. It is part of Addie's mission to bring these concepts back to the forefront of the industry, educating the future photographers on where the whole movement began- acting as an anchor in times of uncertainty. A current quest is to bring back these old ways of working and merge it with the new. Educating future creatives on the history and foundations of photography, bringing more awareness around their current practice. Her belief is when grounding into the old world, it helps to drive new practices, with strength and honour, into the present day. Addie is a student of life. She is fascinated by the profound mystery that lies within the simplicity of small acts, and strives for her photography work to perhaps, be a reflection of this. A photograph is a still act, sometimes a fifth of second in time. A timestamp. They are all but pieces of history, and to be revered as such.
